Church Resources
One of the main aspects of our vision is to serve and equip the local church, right across the denominations, as it faithfully works with children and young people. We aim to provide all the necessary resources and support for effective Christian youth work - from evangelism through to discipleship. We are also strongly committed to supporting and nurturing local Youth Workers in their daunting task of reaching and keeping the younger generation for God.
We have a wide range of resources and experience available to help you as you reach and disciple young people. Here are some of the ways we might be able to help:
Rock Solid
Rock Solid clubs are specifically geared towards the 11-14 age group. They attract both churched & unchurched young people helping to bridge the gap between the two. It provides a lively, fast moving, action packed programme whilst dealing with issues facing young people bringing in the God perspective. There are over 250 clubs currently running in the UK and Swindon currently has 4 clubs with several more in the planning. SYFC offers training, help, advice and support in setting up these clubs.
Rock Solid is a partnership between a local church and Swindon Youth for Christ. For a monthly subscription fee SYFC will supply your church with everything you need for a successful programme of weekly outreach clubs.
When a club becomes part of the national network they receive the following from Youth for Christ:
- Weekly Rock Solid resources
- A free place each year on YFC training/development days
- Ongoing support
- A quarterly newsletter from Youth for Christ, keeping you updated
- Access to inter-club events
Rock Solid 2!
Following the success of Rock Solid, YFC have launched a new resource package for churches, called Rock Solid 2. The slogan says "putting the fun back into Sunday". It is aimed at 11-14 year old who are already involved in a local church and are seriously interested in knowing more about Christ. Topics covered include mercy, parents, friendships and taming the tongue. A local youth worker comments
"We are really excited about RS2, not only does it provide a brilliant resource for our Sunday morning young peoples work but we also believe that we will see young people coming to faith as they get stuck into the programme".
Suited to be run as part of a traditional "Sunday school" slot each weekly programme is based around a particular theme and includes ice breakers, interactive challenges, creative Bible studies, lively discussion and the occasional competition. At the end of each meeting there is a chance to reflect on what God might be saying to the young people as individuals, plus ways to get the whole group praying.
Again for a monthly subscription fee you get all the benefit of being part of Rock Solid and a great way of discipling young people.
Putting youth issues on the agenda
We would love to come to your Service, Church or PCC to talk about Youth issues and to let you know about the work of SYFC. We can also offer:
- Training - We have a wealth of experience and expertise as well as resources to help youth leaders be equipped and to gain the skills they need for the job.
- Consultation, Advice & Support - We don't claim to have all the answers, but we have expertise and experience that can be helpful and maybe point you in the right direction.
- Youth Alpha - We are able to train youth leaders to run Youth Alpha courses, a practical introduction to the Christian faith, aimed especially at those who aren't regular churchgoers
- Events - We run a wide range of events throughout the year. They vary in purpose from first contact to discipleship events, more information about some of them can be found on our Events page - alternatively contact us for more information.
